Given my seemingly unconscious willingness to make purposeful change, it may stun you that when I walk into a grocery store and see they rearranged everything in the store, I usually leave.
I love change when it suits my taste. This is one sign that I am normal.
Technology changes all the time. If I invite a change into my life, I accept it with open arms. For example, I love Apple’s new operating system – Lion, especially the full screen mode and the track-pad. One reason changes at Apple usually go smoothly is that they make intuitive changes which shorten the learning curve.
Some technology companies make changes, which they understand, but fail to adequately tell their consumers or customers about how to make good use of the changes.
Consumers are users of free service. Customers are users who pay for a service. Unhappy consumers can be a pain in the neck. Unhappy customers can cost you and arm and a leg.
Netflix recently upset 1 million of their customers with their pricing changes. These customers abandoned ship. Netflix’s mistake cost them $1,000,000 a month in revenue, $12 Million a year. That is a chunk of change.
Facebook recently made changes in their social network software. Since no one pays for Facebook, we can only complain as free-loading consumers. With 278,000,000 users, one complaint or a million really does not matter to them.
Like the local grocery store, Facebook has thrown down the gauntlet, adjust or leave.
Since I use Facebook as part of my ministry, you know what I am going to do. So does Facebook.
Thankfully, some things in life do not change.
God does not change.
His love, His grace, His holiness, His justice, His glory, and His mercy do not change.
There is another thing about God that does not change.
At the end of the day after everyone has sought to get an edge up on the world by making changes which drive us nuts, God wins!
Thus, it’s a no-brainer about in whom I place my faith and my life. It’s in God – Father, Son, and Spirit.
Those who live with God, win with Him! This is The Good News!
There are some things you can count on to never change. This is one of them.
