There Is No Greater Love

Love is patient and kind.

Love does not envy or boast.

Love is not arrogant or rude.

Love does not insist on its own way.

Love is not irritable or resentful.

Love does not rejoice at wrongdoing.

Love rejoices with the truth.

Love bears all things.

Love believes all things.

Love hopes all things.

Love endures all things.

Love never ends.

1 Corinthians 13:4-8

George Matheson wrote, “If I would know the love of my friend, I must see what it can do in the winter.  Will I love him in his own night?”

Sentimentality, rather than sacrificial love, has become the scent of Valentine’s Day.  Wear red, send a hallmark, choose chocolate, sparkle a diamond, rent some roses, and if you have the patience of Job, go out to dinner.

By tomorrow’s sunrise, the perfume will have drifted away, it’s fragrance faded from memory.

The scent of love is nothing compared to the sacrifice of love.

May your Valentine’s Day love be filled with the fragrance of sacrifice and may it endure your love’s night.

Jesus said, “There is no greater love than to lay down your life for your friends.” John 15:13
